Taiwan's Elite Police Tactical Unit Selects Farsight, the Offline 3D Mapping Used by US Forces
MIST Taiwan and Reveal Technology announced that the Criminal Investigation Bureau Special Tactical Unit (CIB STU), Taiwan's national-level police tactical unit under the National Police Agency, has acquired Farsight through MIST Taiwan. The unit is presenting it at a press conference unveiling its new equipment, as its newest capability for situational awareness and mission readiness.
Farsight turns drone video into real-time 2D maps and near-real-time 3D models on the phones and tablets operators already carry. All processing is 100% offline on the device, with no cloud and no back-haul link to jam or intercept. It integrates with ATAK, needs no LiDAR, and supports line of sight, route and helicopter landing zone analysis. It can model a 100 m by 100 m area in about ten minutes, which makes it suited to raids and hostage rescue, urban and mountain operations, counter-terrorism and critical infrastructure protection.
Farsight is listed on the US DoD Blue UAS Framework, holds an Authority to Operate (ATO) and is rated TRL 9. It is used by the US Army, US Special Operations Command and the US Marine Corps. The CIB STU is the first unit to adopt it, and MIST will next bring Farsight to more of Taiwan's police tactical and counter-terrorism units, and on to national defense.
